Marie Lobo lived a remarkable life. She was born in Kenya, Africa in 1931. She left Africa to go study in Karachi, Pakistan. There she completed her high school and college degree.
She met the love of her life in Karachi, a handsome young man, John (Hilloo) Lobo.
Hilloo worked for Cable and Wireless and during his tenure with this Company was transferred to different countries in the Middle East. Marie of course went with him. First stop was Aden, then Oman, and last of all Bahrain. They made many friends along the way and enjoyed a comfortable and fun filled life. Marie immigrated to Canada in 1982.
Marie had a unique nick name “Dinky”. Marie ran an early childhood day care centre in Bahrain, for many years. She enjoyed this tremendously. Every child that came through her nursery had a solid early childhood foundation. Many of her students still remember her and fondly recollect the times they spent at “Aunty Dinky’s Nursery”
.
Her passion was music and singing. She sang in the church choir. She impressed everyone with her angelic voice. Besides the hymns, her favourite song was “Que Sera Sera”. She sang this at every family gathering. Her children, grandchildren as well as great grand children all know the song and would sing along with her.
Her greatest asset was her strength to carry on no matter what challenges she was faced with. She had strong family values and instilled these values in her children Today her children are enjoying the fruits of her dedication to a strong upbringing.
We love you mum always, and will be in our hearts forever.
