I am so deeply saddened by this tragic news. I have such wonderful memories of our time together. My thoughts are with Stewart, Colin, Gavin and the rest of the clan....

So sorry I wasn’t able to make Karen’s celebration of life today, I was thankful I could be there through the live stream. I have such great memories of times with Karen over the last 35 years. Whether she knew it or not, Karen taught me many things.  She taught me how to play cards, and loose money gracefully, McPherson’s do NOT loose at cards. She taught me that even sweet people could have road rage, and the love of baseball.  She inspired me to be a better cook, and that it was ok to put half a pound of butter on your popcorn, the more butter the better! She showed me what a good mother looked like and Stewart, your relationship together  was one that inspired many, including myself. Karen taught me that family doesn’t always mean blood and I was always welcome no matter what. I know over the last few years we haven’t seen each other nearly as much, but Karen will, you all will, always hold a special place in my heart. Her laugh was the only thing bigger than her heart. Such a beautiful service for a beautiful soul. 

I first met Karen at Regency Racquets Club where she and Laurie taught me to swim. Later, she gave me my first job at the club. I will always remember her smile and her check-ins that extended when I moved to her beloved Scotland five years ago. 

My deepest condolences to Stewart, Colin, Gavin and Laurie and Jim. Karen will be deeply missed.

We have known you since you were a wee girl and always loved when you came to visit us in Florida with the  family in your younger years and as you grew into the lovely woman you became, you often visited us and made us smile because of your loving caring way.
We will all miss that but we can smile up to you and know you are looking down on the Florida family still loving and caring. Your  family and friends will agree, you made us all feel good just knowing you.

Karen was a remarkable women, who made an impact on so many. A common theme from all of us boys who played soccer and grew up together was that Karen always treated us as one of her own; we always felt at home when going to her and Stewart’s house. I always felt a part of the family, and this became realized years later as Christa and Colin got married, solidifying a strong bond between our families that went back to before Colin and I became friends. 

A lasting memory for me will be Karen’s sense of humour. She loved to laugh, and is something that will be sorely missed!

We were shocked to here of Karen passing. Vennie and I would like to pass on our deepest condolences to you Stewart, Colin, Gavin and the extended Tyler and McPherson families. One of our many memories as Karen managed our soccer team was the time she jumped into a pond, full clothed, to save one of boys at one of the Niagara soccer tournaments.

It’s hard to put into words what a ray of sunshine Karen was and how much she is missed.  Karen was kind and caring, and kept us all comfortable.  Lots of happy memories.  She was fun! A bright star now twinkles in the sky.  Stewart was very fortunate to know and love her.  The family is united in our sorrow and thankful we were part of her life.

Never have I known someone to exude such kindness and warmth.

Karen was incredibly loving and supportive, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Taken from us far too soon, but I will never forget how you always went out of your way to remind me that I would always be your nephew. You made sure to tell me you loved me every chance you got. In a life where I've often felt like I didn't belong, you always made me feel right at home.

I’m sorry for the loss of this beautiful warm hearted lady.  She had such a way about her to make the most awkward shy people comfortable in her presence.  She was kind and thoughtful, funny and great fun to be around.  To think that we will never hear her contagious laugh again is unbearable.  My heart breaks for you who love her and have been loved in return.

My family is incredibly sad at the passing of Karen. 

Karen was always kind, and quick to smile and laugh. She will always be remembered that way. 

We first learned about Karen when she and my cousin, Stewart, got engaged. I was still living in England and they had sent a framed engagement photo to Grandad. I can attest that he was very pleased to hang it on his living room wall. We had to wait a while to meet Karen and we were not disappointed when we did. I can honestly say the family all loved her.

My Second Mum! How missed you will be. You welcomed me with open arms and made my move to Canada all that easier, particularly supporting me when my Dad passed and always asking after my Mum. Now I will provide that support to Stew, Gav & Colin as best I can.  The pain for both friends and family is intense, but that is because of the impact you had on everyone's lives. At some point that pain will turn into wonderful memories as we were all lucky to know you. You are so missed.
