Goldie, Gladys L. (nee Moore) Peacefully, in her 92nd year, after a 17 year battle with Alzheimer Disease at Victoria Village Manor in Barrie on Monday 10, January 2011 while surrounded by her loving family. Dear wife of the late Arthur F Goldie. Predeceased by daughter Gladys (Babs) MacLeod, son George, son in law Don MacLeod, sisters Eileen Henry and Marg (Sundue) Duncan, brothers Carl Downey, Harvey Moore and Floyd Moore. Lovingly remembered by her sister Lorraine Lewis, daughter Sharon Allen and her husband Ron, her 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to the staff of Victoria Village Manor and especially for the love and care provided by the 3rd floor (Windsor House) and recreation staff during the past 7 years. They became her loving extended family. Glady will always be remembered for her “feistiness”. Vistation at the Andrews Community Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Rd., Brampton (N. of Steeles Ave., 905-456-8190) on Thursday January 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life to be held on Friday January 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Brampton Cemetery. Glady, formally of Peterborough, New Toronto, Alderwood and Mississauga loved her family, her winters in Florida (after Christmas!) and dancing. She was a charter and long time member of the Four Corners Square Dance Club of Mississauga. In her memory, donations could be made to the Alzheimer Society or to “The Goldie Gang” in their annual Alzheimer Walk for Memories in Simcoe County on the 30th of January.
