It is with great sadness, that we share the passing of Diane Plumb (nee Rouse) at home on March 27, 2023. She is pre-deceased by her husband Lyle and will be so missed by her children Denise (Rocco) and Kevin (Jennifer) and the true lights of her life, her grandchildren; Quinn (Sarah), Mattia (Emily), Sienna, Taytt, Grace and Carter. Diane is also pre-deceased by her brothers Ted (Marg) and Frank (Betty). She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Shirley and all her nieces and nephews and longtime friends and her dog, Ginger.
Diane grew up in Hamilton Ontario where she became a primary educator. She met her husband while doing a placement at a one room schoolhouse in Strathroy and they married and moved to Sarnia. After starting her family, she followed her husband’s vocational move to the Brampton area. Education, particularly acquiring solid literacy skills, was always an area of passion for her and she fostered her love of reading to her family.
Diane’s favorite place in the whole world is her cottage on Georgian Bay where she spent every summer since she was three years old. Diane loved sitting on the porch, reading endless books, watching the water, the water activities and catching up with friends. Her stories about how the area developed over time was shared with all those who would listen.
Diane was the essence of our family. She instilled the importance of sharing every event together, celebrating every milestone and looked forward to catching up with her children and grandchildren’s daily lives. She even learned to text on her “texting” machine so she could keep current with her family’s lives. Diane will be truly missed, and we will remember her always when we get together at every holiday or simply sitting around a campfire, eating a perfectly browned marshmallow.
In honor of her memory, please donate to the Princess Margaret Hospital - Stem Cells in Cancer Research Fund or The Alzheimer Society both were loyally supported by her.
A Private Celebration of Diane’s Life will be held at a later date.
