Passed peacefully at Matthew’s House Hospice surrounded by his children, brother and sister in law at the age of 70. Charles, who everyone knew as Chuck, was born in Brampton where he lived for the next 69 years. He is pre-deceased by his wife Tish (2023) and his father Alfred Williams. He leaves behind his children Steve (Gayle Reed) and Krista (Justin Alexander) and his grandchildren Ellie, Autumn, Connor and Kyla. He also leaves behind his brother Bill (Sharon) his sister Ruth (John) and mother Jessie Williams
Chuck was an avid sports fan and was a life long Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He spent many years playing hockey but his heart was always in lacrosse. He was part of the 1980 Mann Cup Championship Senior Brampton Excelsiors team. He became part of the Excelsiors alumni and would spend many Thursday nights watching the Senior team play at both Brampton Memorial Arena and the Poweraid Centre. Chuck spent a lot of time reminiscing and telling stories of his adventures while growing up within the Brampton sports community.
In his adult years, Chuck became a volunteer with the Bramalea Blues Junior B hockey team where he spent countless hours doing what he loved.. It was a sad time when Victoria Park Arena was demolished as it was part of his history.
Aside from sports, Chuck’s other love was woodworking. He was always spending time in his man cave or shed designing or building something including bird houses, furniture, and doll houses.
Chuck was a simple man who appeared to be big and ferocious but was really a big soft teddy bear. He didn’t always say a lot but when he did, people would listen
A special thank you to all of the people who assisted Chuck in the last year of his life including the Dufferin Community Paramedics, Edite Santos NP, all of the Bayshore nurses who came to provide care, Nicole Kelly PSW, Nigel Kingswell Social Worker, Anne Foisy Care Coordinator and the staff at Matthew’s House Hospice.
A celebration of life will be organized in spring/summer 2024 for both Chuck and Tish.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to a children’s charity of your choice or the Matthew House Hospice.
