Survived by her loving husband, Alexander Hnatiuk for 56 wonderful years. Sister in law to Nicholas and Jeanette and treasured aunt to Paul (Christine), Nicole, and Jennifer (Brian). Adored great aunt to Catherine, Ryan, Jack, Grace, Boe, Dylan and Evan.
Her legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Sue had a determined will, was very forgiving of people, and loved family. She was a great baker, loved cats, enjoyed spending time at the cottage, and was a strong supporter of local culture and arts.
Carolyn was born in Toronto, Ontario on August 22, 1943 to the late Gordon and Evelyn Blanche Readman (nee Moore). Sue graduated from Woodsworth College in 1970 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts and taught at elementary schools in Etobicoke (Lakeshore) and Welland until 1974 when she moved to Ottawa. She continued teaching until 1976 when she started a career in the Federal Public Service with the CRA where she worked for 27 years. Sue was a supporter of the Humane Society and caring for people in need by supporting the Ottawa Mission, Ottawa Food Banks, and the Salvation Army.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 1pm -5pm at Andrews Community Funeral Centre - Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, ON. A Funeral service will take place in the Chapel of the funeral home at 11am on Monday, December 23, 2024, with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society, the Ottawa Mission, the Salvation Army or your local food bank.
