It is with deep sadness that the family of Barry Hay announces his passing on January 27, 2024 at the age of 87. He passed peacefully after a brief illness at Brampton Civic Hospital surrounded by his family, whom he loved with all his heart.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Ruth (nee Hodder), his children Meaghan, Jeff (Liz) and Kevin (Cindy), cherished grandchildren Patrick (Kate), Kyle, Lindsay, Cameron, Michael and David, brother Bill (Carol, d.2014), nephew Brad, niece Val (John) and sister-in-law Jean Hodder (Ross Flowers).
Born and raised in Toronto, Barry was a long-time employee of the Toronto Board of Education, retiring in 1991. He was an original resident of Bramalea and coached minor hockey and soccer for many years, and was an unofficial coach and cheerleader for all his grandchildren’s teams. He will be remembered for his playful sense of humour, gregarious laugh, and unending love of family.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life at Andrews Community Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Rd, Brampton, on February 10 from 1 to 5 pm.
