After a lengthy illness and a valiant fight, Alastair "Al" Robertson has peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, at Brampton Civic Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind cherished memories and an enduring legacy of dedication and warmth.
Al spent an incredible 36 years with Air Canada and not a single day went by when he didn't look forward to going to work. Whether he was in Stores in the hangar, at Reservations on Bloor Street, or later at Pearson Airport, Al took joy in every role. He was always ready to lend a hand, whether a passenger was lost, a bag was missing, or someone simply needed a friendly face.
When he retired, Al joined the Pionairs, a community for retired Air Canada employees. Discovering there was no group in Brampton, he took the initiative to organize one and faithfully attended every meeting until Parkinson's took over and he could no longer attend.
Al loved telling stories around the dinner table and often reminisced about his years at Air Canada, sharing memories with family and friends of his fond time there. He and his wife, Anne, were fortunate to have enjoyed many vacations, including a memorable road trip to Florida in their new van. Al took great pride in his Scottish roots and returned often to visit family.
Outside of work, he found joy in his many years volunteering with Scouts Canada, photography, gadgets and time spent with his sons, David (Krista) and Eric (Christina). His laughter and kindness will be missed deeply by friends, colleagues and loved ones.
As per Al's wishes, no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, your support of Parkinson Canada is appreciated.
