William A. "Bill" Vickers, Sr. age 99, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Born in Fort Denaud, FL on May 19, 1922, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Agnes Vickers (nee Pyle).
Bill, along with his wife, Rose, owned and operated Vickers Trucking in Palmetto for many years until their retirement. Bill enjoyed going to his pasture every day to ride around and check on his cows, while sometimes stopping to visit a friend to tell a tale or two. He was a wonderful storyteller, creating his own autobiography along the way.
His kindness, inspiration, compassion, and love for his family and friends will forever leave a footprint on the hearts of all of us.
Bill is survived by his wife of 76 years, Rose; his son, William A. "Billy" Vickers, Jr (Loreen), his daughter, Pam Davis; and "Papa" to his 5 grandchildren, Drew, Chris, Shawna, Timmy, Troy, and 4 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 27th at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton.
Visitation at 2:30 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
