Scott was born in Tampa, Florida to Michael H. Sweat and Mary Jane (Giarrusso) Wilkin. After several moves to Arden, NC and Syracuse, NY, Scott spent most of his formative years in Delhi, NY. He graduated from Delaware Academy in 1995 and joined the U.S. Army. He graduated from Flight School at Fort Rucker, Alabama and advanced to flying AH64 Apache Attack Helicopters. He had many assignments across the United States, Europe, Middle East and Asia. He achieved the position of Pilot in Command in 2008 and retired as Chief Warrant Officer 3 after 20 years of service. He continued to serve by training pilots of our Allies in Taiwan, South Korea, and Indonesia.
Scott was known for his quick wit and contagious sense of humor that would have his colleagues laughing so hard their sides hurt. He was an inspirational leader, confidant, friend.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Michael H. Sweat.
He is survived by his wife, Sieglinde Sweat, Mother Mary Jane (Giarrusso) Wilkin, stepfather Richard K. Wilkin; brother Sean Sweat, sister Michelle Ciani, uncles and aunts: Francis and Denise Giarrusso, Michael and Christine Giarrusso, Timothy and Lori Giarrusso, Don Corwin, Jr. and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is also survived by his courageous brothers and sisters in Arms who served and are serving with Integrity, Honor, Valor, and Distinction. Thank you.
Services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday September 21, 2023 with calling hour at 10 AM in the Chapel and Mass of Resurrection at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. There will be a light breakfast available at the Church Parish Center from 9:15 am until 10 AM.
