He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Green and Mary Eastman from Warren, PA, his brothers Raymond from Cope SC, Alfred from Mount Airy, GA, sister Edith Smith from Jamestown, N.Y., grandson David, Bradenton, FL, and great-grandson Tristan from TN.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna, sons Nelson and Henry Gowanda, N.Y., Robert, Bradenton, FL, and daughters, Cindy, Wabash IN, and Sandy Brooklyn Park, MN. He had 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a jack of all trades, especially around automobiles. He drove a semi in the early years, learning the fine art of sleeping while driving down the road, with no accidents. He moved to Florida in 1969. He worked for Bill Graham Ford, Watts Body Shop, 5 star, Sunshine, and various other shops around Manatee and Sarasota counties.
He enjoyed bowling, especially beating his wife at it. They bowled in leagues at Rip Van Winkle (where they met), Cortez Lanes, and lately Sarasota Lanes. He loved to go camping, where he owned various motorhomes and 5th wheels thru the years. He spent many weekends camping with a good sam club and going on vacation traveling with family.
Before moving to Florida, he would spend his weekend’s dirt track racing. He watched Nascar most weekends cheering on Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. He loved owning and driving older cars and trucks. He was a member of AACA and the local chapter, Vintage Wheels. He enjoyed going to local car shows and cruises. He was always glad to give a helping hand with friend’s projects. He will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Robert will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203. Robert will be laid to rest at Manasota Memorial Park at a later date.
