Margaret was born in Fairbanks, Iowa to John Shields and Madeline Phillips on January 18, 1935. She worked on early computer systems in the insurance industry, as an executive assistant for Coe College, and as a line worker at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She enjoyed gardening, Christmas, playing Hand & Foot, and spending time with her friends and family.
Margaret is survived by her children Timothy McAllister, Kelly Johnson, Denis McAllister (Peggy) and Staci Vileta, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters (including her twin Mary Berg of Bradenton). She is preceded in death by her spouse of nearly 65 years Joseph Martin McAllister Jr., one grandchild, five brothers and one sister.
She will be interred beside her beloved husband at Sarasota National Cemetery. Following her wishes, services will not be held.
