Horace D. Oakes, of Sarasota passed away Monday October 8, 2018 at the age of 90; he was born April 24, 1928 in Monterey TN.
Horace was a teacher in the Akron public schools for many years. He graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Akron. He was a lifelong member and lay speaker at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Barberton Ohio.
He is survived by loving daughter Sandi & son-in-law Paul Gordon, grandson Jeff (Deanne) Gordon, Tim (Melisa)) Gordon, great grandchildren, Tonny (Karen), Kerzie, Michael, Zac & Samantha, sister in-law Nell (Van) Costas, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Doris, parents Horace & Winford Oakes, together forever at last.
Funeral was held at The Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home 1221 53rd Ave E, Bradenton Florida, burial was in the Manasota Memorial Park Bradenton
