Gary Owen Foltz, aged 87, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 22, 2025, at his home, without pain or warning, leaving those who knew him in awe of his graceful passage to eternity. A man of unwavering faith, Gary cherished the Lord Jesus and lived as a beacon of mentorship and inspiration to all around him.
Born on May 19, 1937, Gary was the beloved son of Carl Owen Foltz and Marion Sellers Foltz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marion Foltz and his beloved son Jody. He is survived by his devoted wife, Janis Jacob Foltz, and his dear sister, Karen Covell Jacob. His legacy lives on through his children, Traci Saylor and husband Todd, Tari Valdez and husband John, Trudee Mason and husband Scott, as well as his cherished nephew Scott Covell and nieces Amy Covell, Kerri Covell Allen, and Cathy Covell. Gary’s family brought him immense joy, including his grandchildren, Courtnee Rowe, Kendra Scharite, and Kara Richards, along with his great-grandchildren, Saylor, Judah, Nora, and Jachin.
Gary’s life was marked by a deep commitment to education and mentorship. Over a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years, he served as a teacher, principal, coach, referee, umpire, and guidance counselor. Known for his integrity, wisdom, and passion for shaping young minds, Gary left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students, colleagues, and athletes. His dedication to guiding others earned him the admiration and respect of all who had the privilege to learn from or work alongside him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary’s warm heart and firm faith defined his character. He embraced life with kindness, humility, and an enduring love for his family and community. Those who knew Gary will forever remember him as a man who walked with God and uplifted those around him with his boundless grace and compassion.
As we celebrate the remarkable life of Gary Owen Foltz, we find comfort in knowing that he is now resting in eternal peace with his Savior and is “Better Than Terrific!” His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as he did in life.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 10th, 2025 at Rock Crusher Church from 2pm to 4pm.
