Eva Marie Heakin was born in London, England on October 29, 1950 to parents Ted and Martha Kuczewski. The family immigrated to the United States from Poland after World War II aboard the Queen Mary II. Together with young Eva and her brother George, they settled on the south side of Chicago where they built a good life for themselves.
She earned advanced degrees at Loyola and Roosevelt University including a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Social Work, and her LCSW.
Eva met Kevin Heakin in the Chicagoland area and the couple married in 1996. They moved to Sarasota in 2005 where they remained active in their community. She participated in the service dog program at New Horizons and was blessed to have loyal companions over the years including Gracie, Norman, and Gunner. Eva enjoyed swimming and attending theater at local cultural centers. She loved living in Florida and enjoyed the warm weather.
Eva passed away on March 11, 2025 at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center surrounded by her immediate family. She is survived by her husband Kevin Heakin, her son Marc Fawcett, and daughter Andrea Fawcett.
A visitation will be held on March 20, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center at 4310 Solutions Ln in Lakewood Ranch. Services will be held on March 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Angels, 12905 State Rd 70 in Lakewood Ranch. Interment will follow at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton.
