He went to Central High School till 1965. After High School Dave joined the U.S. Army and spent most of his tour in Germany. While in the Army Dave earned a Diploma in Automotive Repair. He used this knowledge his entire life. After the army he then went to Cayuga County Community College where he majored in Humanities and Social Science, he earned an Associate Degree in Arts. Dave lived in numerous places but eventually wound up in Bradenton Fl. where he met Carol, his wife. Dave was a man of many talents who loved to learn. He could repair any type of motor, build a house from the ground up. He liked working with wood and could build furniture and do scroll saw art work. He loved to fish and golf. He was a wonderful conversationalist, well versed in many subjects and fun to talk to. Dave enjoyed taking his trailer camping with his wife Carol and their dogs. He was a nature and animal lover. Walking the trails at any camp ground made him happy.
Dave had two wonderful children Mary and David from a previous marriage, who he adored. He had many grandchildren and he loved to see them. He loved having family get togethers. One of his many talents was making the most delicious ribs and pulled pork, whatever he made all enjoyed. If anyone needed help Dave would be right there making repairs or building whatever was needed, he loved doing it.
Dave worked for the City of Sarasota for 26 years. He started out as a mechanic and worked his way up to Utilities Maintenance Supervisor. He earned numerous certificates in continuing education. Dave retired from the City of Sarasota in 2008. He enjoy his retirement with Carol, traveling or just being home working on projects around his house.
Dave was very much loved by his wife, Carol and his family. His is missed beyond words, the world is not the same without Dave in it.
Dave was pre-deceased by his daughter Mary Deyo and his brother William Deyo (Billy) Brothers-in-law Martin Koellhoffer and Keith Koellhoffer
Dave leaves Carol his wife of 41 years, his son David C. Deyo II and daughter-in-law Darlene Deyo
His granddaughter Amanda Maples and son-in-law Charlie Maples, His granddaughter Jessica and grandson Michael, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews
His Sisters-in-law Jonna Koellhoffer and Sue Stickle. Brothers-in-law Greg Koellhoffer(Greg's Fiancee Kelly Pastern) and Dustin Koellhoffer (BeeYan) Sisters-in-law Linda Koellhoffer(Martin) and Denise Koellhoffer (Keith)
