Catherine Ann Palumbo, aged 85, died at home after a courageous battle on January 19, 2014. Catherine was surrounded by generations of family, while under the care of Tidewell Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Palumbo; her father, Frank Warren; and mother, Fanny Warren.
Catherine was born September 1, 1928, in Norwalk, CT, the daughter of Frank and Fanny Warren. She relocated to Manatee County from Norwalk, CT, in 1975. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Filled with compassion and interest in others, Catherine became a registered nurse in the 1950's. She was an avid reader and fierce, loving and loyal mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Catherine was the strength of the family, and will always be remembered for her kind and loving ways.
She is survived by three sons, William, of Norwalk, CT, Frederick, of Englewood, FL, and Alfred, of Bradenton, FL; a sister, Lillian Iliff, of Wilton, CT; four grandchildren, Scott Palumbo, Kristen Goodpaster, Colleen Palumbo and Caitlin Antonaras, and two great-grandchildren; Ethan Goodpaster and Dylan Palumbo.
A viewing will be held at 1pm, Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm following the visitation at the funeral home.
