Bonnie Alice Krasik, age 67, formerly of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Lexington, Kentucky, died on Friday, October 13, 2023, in Bradenton, Fl where she made her home since 2017. The cause of death was metastatic breast cancer.
Over more than a 30-year career in TV news, Bonnie held positions as producer, on-air anchor and reporter including stints at the ABC TV affiliate in Southfield, Michigan, The NBC affiliate in Oklahoma City and NBC affiliate in Lexington, Kentucky. A 1978 cum laude graduate of University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Bonnie began her broadcast career on small radio stations in the Monogahela River Valley of western Pennsylvania and began her TV news career at Channel 9 in Steubenville, Ohio. During this nascent period of her career, she progressed from anchoring newscasts in the early morning to noon broadcast and culminating in evening and nightly news on the NBC affiliate there.
The daughter of James B. and Natalie N. Krasik formerly of Monessen, Pennsylvania, Steubenville, Ohio and Port Charlotte, Florida, Bonnie is survived by her brother Rawley Krasik (Margaret) and sister Ellen Krasik as well as a niece, nephew, grandnephews and a grandniece. Bonnie attended Monessen Public Schools and The Master's School in Dobbs Ferry, NY from which she graduated in 1974. She was a talented photographer, a music lover, and a lifelong fan of singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell. Bonnie was a member of Congregation Beth El in Bradenton, Florida, a member of the Temple Board and former President of the Sisterhood.
