Roy Renninger Hoffman, 81, of Barto, PA., passed away on December 11, 2024, after battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years. In his final days, he was lovingly surrounded by family who will continue to honor his legacy of integrity and kindness.
Born at home in Barto, PA., Roy was the son of the late Ella Mae (Renninger) and Chester Hoffman. He graduated Boyertown High School and shortly thereafter, enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served during peacetime aboard the U.S.S. New DD 818 and enjoyed traveling extensively while stationed in the Middle East.
Roy was hardworking and dedicated. He was an electrician by trade, first working for B.F. Goodrich and later as the owner and operator of Roy Hoffman Electric. Roy loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, watching the Phillies, and spending time with his family. He was a quiet man known to surprise you with his witty sense of humor. Not one to be idle, he could often be found tinkering in the garage or doing yardwork. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, Niantic and spent several summers teaching vacation bible school. After retirement, Roy was a docent on the USS New Jersey.
Roy was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara (Leabig) Hoffman, and his children: Rick, husband of Ann Christman of Dallas, TX., Pamela, wife of Michael Mathias of Barto, PA., Eric, husband of Janet Hoffman of Conway, SC., Mark, husband of Lisa Hoffman of Wilmington, DE., and Cheryl, wife of Christian Coniglio of Mickleton, NJ. Roy is survived by 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and his siblings Charles Hoffman and Wilson Hoffman. He is predeceased by siblings Ralph Hoffman, Earl Hoffman, and Edith Erb.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Niantic in Barto, PA. on Saturday, December 21st, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends may call at church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Christ Union Cemetery, Niantic.
