Richard was the husband of Winifred J. (Balmer), and the son of the late Dorothy (Stauffer) and Jesse Neiman. He was a 1948 graduate of Boyertown Senior High as well as a graduate of Penn State University, with an associate’s degree in Drafting and Design. He spent over 30 years as a tooling engineer for Penco Products, Oaks Pa.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Chester Springs. He enjoyed attending and following his grandchildren’s sporting careers. He was also a long time Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State University football fan. He found much enjoyment in spending time and vacationing with his family. Richard was a gifted craftsman and enjoyed doing home improvement projects. Richard will be remembered for his great sense of humor and kind heart.
Richard is survived by, along with his wife of 62 years Winnie, two sons; Keith, husband of Nancy (Bailer) Neiman, of Gilbertsville and Scott Neiman of Chester Springs; three grandchildren: Christie Neiman of Exeter Twp., Alex Neiman and Jon Neiman, both of Gilbertsville. He is survived by a brother Charles Neiman of Boyertown and a sister Shirley Reigner of Gilbertsville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by a sister, Janette Nester.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 11 AM at Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, 111 North Reading Ave. Boyertown. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 to 11AM on Thursday. The Rev. Ronald P. Wesemann will officiate. Burial will be in Bechtelsville Union Cemetery.
