Mary A. Samsel

Mary, who was born in Boyertown, PA was 1 of 8 children to the late Mary (Angstadt) and Samuel Houck and was a 1943 graduate of Boyertown High School.

Mary is a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyertown. She has received numerous awards for her oil paintings and throughout her life she volunteered at various nursing homes in many states.

Mary was also a homemaker, as well as a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth M. Samsel with whom she resided, a son, Glenn K., husband of Monica Samsel of Wellsville, PA, 3 daughters: Judith A., wife of Kenneth Chrusch, and Diane L., wife of Howard Schankweiler, both of Pottstown, PA, and Joanne M., wife of Michael Irwin of Boyertown, PA; a sister, Esther, widow of Duncan Hunsberger of Emmaus, PA

A brother, Samuel, widower of Helen Houck of NJ; and a brother-in-law. Raymond Samsel of Boyertown. There are also 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 19, at 4PM-at St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Ave. Boyertown PA 19512.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the memorial fund at St. John’s.
