Kathleen Marie (Brady) Gorski, 73, of Gilbertsville, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early hours on August 11, 2024. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Kathy was a consummate professional during her long, illustrious career as well as a devoted mom and grandmom. Kathy’s love and support of her children and grandchildren was always evident.
Born in Norristown, PA, Kathy was the oldest daughter of the late Aloysius and Geraldine (Welna) Brady. She graduated from the A.D. Eisenhower High School where she was on the Honor Roll along with being a member of both the student council and Future Nurses of America (FNA) Club. Kathy earned her Registered Nursing degree from the Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing in Norristown, PA. At her graduation from nursing school, Kathy was the recipient of the Excellence in Clinical Nursing award, presented to her by the Board of Directors, and the coveted Anna M. Dahlem award, having been chosen by the entire senior class as the recipient and presented to her for maturity of judgement, empathy, selflessness and high personal standards. Kathy also earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the prestigious Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science.
Kathy started her career at Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, PA as a nurse and quickly rose through the ranks. She also spent time at Pottstown Hospital and Montgomeryville Hospital. Kathy also worked Eagleville Hospital, Substance Abuse Treatment in Eagleville, PA on the weekends. She switched paths from clinical to business and joined Intracorp where she performed in the role as their Utilization Management Nurse.
Due to Kathy’s work ethic, integrity, determination and excellence, she was aggressively recruited and hired by Mr. Leonard Abramson, CEO and HMO founder of US Healthcare in 1987. Kathy created many programs that are still being successfully used today. A few of those highlights include creating the UM protocols for utilization management for US Healthcare, starting the on-site program operation that was implemented locally and regionally, being selected to implement improvement processes, and reorganizing management operations of the Self-Insured Department to operate effectively and efficiently. Kathy also held many high-level positions throughout her career at Aetna to include Director of Disease Management, Director of Utilization Review for AETNA US Healthcare Mid-Atlantic Patient Management and finally, she was the Director of the National Training Department until her retirement in 2008. Kathy was responsible for hundreds of Aetna US Healthcare employees and earned many awards and significant senior-level management and peer accolades. Kathy was inherently an incredible people person with natural leadership skills and a long-term friend of many. Most importantly, she touched and improved many lives and truly appreciated the value of each her teams’ individual contributions.
After Kathy retired in 2008, she enjoyed visiting and spending as much time with friends and grandkids as possible. Kathy also enjoyed traveling and taking cruise ships to Norway and Alaska. Her oldest son Tom was in the US Air Force and, while he was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, Kathy would spend time with her grandkids Brittany and Sienna in Hawaii, Panama and Las Vegas. She frequently traveled to Virginia, where her younger son Mike had relocated, to help and to visit with her grandson Hunter. Kathy also enjoyed spending time with her Red Hat Society friends and the many friends that she made over the years while working at her organizations.
Kathy adored her puppies and had many over the years. She was an immense supporter of the First Greyhound Rescue, also owning and loving many greyhounds. Juno loves and misses his Momma Kathy very much!
Kathy loved decorating for the holidays with Christmas being her absolute favorite. She spent days decorating her house, making sure her home reflected the warmth and love that she embodied, would be felt by everyone who visited for the holidays. Kathy also loved Purse Bingo & Basket Bingo. She would travel all around for those Bingo games! Luck favored her with the games, and she won hundreds of baskets. Kathy also filled some of her spare time with working at Little Faces Childcare in Gilbertsville. She always loved being around children, teaching and helping them out with everything she could. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and baking cookies during the holidays.
Kathy was such an inspiration to her granddaughters Sienna and Maggie that Sienna is currently at Arizona State University enrolled in their nursing program and Maggie will be pursuing a nursing career after she finishes her upcoming senior year of high school.
In addition to her husband, Thomas R., Kathy is survived by her sons Thomas (Kahli) Gorski and Michael (Anne) Gorski. Kathy was the proud grandmother to Brittany, Sienna, Hunter, Maggie, and Zoe. Also surviving are sisters, JoAnne Bergandino, Denise (Peter) Terrell, Deborah (Richard) Korner, treasured nieces, nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her brother David Brady. All of Kathy’s puppies that she had over the years (Zeus, Chelsea, Heidi, Max, Leila, Wyatt and Joni) she now joins in Heaven.
There are simply not enough positive words to describe Kathy Gorski. She was such an inspiration, loving and caring woman. This obituary was a collection from many friends and family members. We love you so much! We miss you every minute of every day! Rest in Peace…
