

Joseph F. Kalinowski, 86, of Naples, FL and formerly Pottstown, PA died on May 23rd, 2012 at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, FL. Born in Syracuse, NY on January 7, 1926, He was the son of the late Franciszek and Alexsandra Harubin Kalinowski.
Joseph graduated from Eastwood High School in Syracuse in 1943. After working as an apprentice machinist, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Cadet in 1943. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945, he held down several jobs as a Pressman, Cab Driver, Platform man and Office Technician. In the early 1950s, Joseph and his brother Francis developed new methods for speedlight color photography, writing a booklet and developing a handheld calculation wheel to make the process easier for photographers. In 1948, he began his career at General Electric in Syracuse, NY as a hardware model maker. He retired as a Systems Verification Engineer from the company after over 40 years of employment. Joseph also served honorably in the U.S. Air Force National Guard for 20 years, including a tour in Germany in 1961-1962 during the Berlin Crisis. He was active in his Naples, FL community as a photographer and church choir member at St. Finbar’s R.C.C., and was also a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
Joseph is survived by four daughters, Sylvia of La Fayette, NY; Judith, wife of Dean Riley of Skippack; Catherine, wife of William Beatty of Liverpool, NY; and Barbara, wife of Russell Lesinski of Schwenksville, PA.; son Michael Kalinowski and daughter-in-law Kathleen of Royersford, PA. He is also survived by a sister, Helen, of Syracuse, NY and is predeceased by sisters Stella, Anna and Mary, and brother Francis. Joseph is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren from his extended families.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 5th from 9:30 to 10:30 A. M. at St. Aloysius R.C.C., 223 Beech St., Pottstown, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral mass at St. Aloysius on Tuesday, June 5th, 2012 at 10:30 A. M. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Pottstown, PA.
