Howard "Hops" S. Frain

Born in Boyertown he was the son of the late Irene (Schlegel) and Elmer Frain.

He was a 1942 graduate of Boyertown High School. Hops was a Maintenance Supervisor for the former Firestone Tire & Rubber, Pottstown which later became Occidental for 20+ years retiring in 1988.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown. Hops was a member of the Boyertown Orioles F.O.O. # 22, a life member of the Keystone Fire Company, Boyertown and the Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Boyertown. He was past commander and Life member of VFW Post 3487. Hops was a former member of the Boyertown Borough Council. A US Army Veteran. Hops was a P38 mechanic during WWII.

Surviving with his wife, Doris of sixty-four years; are two sons, Scott, husband of Christine Frain of Boyertown and Thomas, husband of Debra Frain of Boyertown; two daughters, Suzette, wife of Wayne Rosen of Boyertown and Sharnee, wife of David Cederberg of Macungie; three brothers, Robert, Richard and Jack Frain; two sisters, Jean Moyer and Barbara Dotts; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. The Reverend Susan Hanson and Sister Millicent J. Drake will officiate.

A viewing will be Thursday between 9:30 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown.
