Derrick L. Nester

Born in Reading, PA. He was the son of the late Sharon L. (Schmale) and Donald L. Nester.

In High School, he worked as a farm hand for Hafer and Sons, and worked on and off for them throughout his life. He worked for Five Star International as a heavy truck mechanic and for Glick Fire Apparatus as a road technician. Over the last 17 years, he served at the Wyomissing Fire Department and as a shift captain for the last 10 years. Derrick also received numerous Certificates and was a mentor to many firefighters over the years.

Derrick was a life member of the Amity Fire Company and has been active there since 1994.

He is survived by his daughter, Kayla E. Nester of Amity Twp. A brother, Jace J. husband of Jessica S. (Stiles) Nester of Elverson.A grandmother, Marian (Mohn) Schmale. Aunts and uncles, Christine Heimbach of Kenhorst, Bonnie Grebe of Shillington and Tim Schmale of Fleetwood. He is also survived by his cousins and their families.

Derrick is also survived by his best friend Jeff Levan.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul's UCC 1979 Weavertown Rd. Douglassville, PA 19518 in Saturday May 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

Friends and family may call at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home on Friday May 17th 2024 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. and at St. Paul's UCC Church Saturday from, 9:00 to 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow the Funeral Service on Saturday May 18, 2024 at Limerick Garden of Memories.
