Born at home in Eshbach, PA, he was the son of the late Eva J. (Derr) and Russell H. Nester. Daniel & his wife, Bernice, celebrated 57 years of marriage on June 18, 2023.
Daniel was employed at Great American Knitting Mills in Bechtelsville, PA, and Bally Block Co. in Bally, PA. He worked for Bally Block Co. for 46 years until his retirement in 2009.
Graduated from Boyertown Senior High School in 1961. Daniel enjoyed planting flowers and traveling to great places with his wife. He enjoyed going to his favorite place Shady Maple Smorgasbord. Daniel loved his family & his Ford cars, watching the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Daniel is survived by his children, Thomas A. Nester companion of Tracy Brintzenhoff of Bechtelsville, and Sandra L. wife of Kevin C. Schoenly of Boyertown. Siblings, Dorothy Weller wife of William of Macungie, Rachael Schittler wife of Larry of Boyertown, and Nancy Taylor wife of Roger of Gilbertsville. Also survived by nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Mabel D. Muthard and Verna D. Nester. Also predeceased by a brother-in-law, Elwood Muthard.
He was a past treasurer, firefighter, and fire police for the Vol. Barto Fire Co, he also was a life member of the Liberty Fire Company, New Berlinville, PA and the Goodwill Fire Company of Bally, PA. Daniel was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown, PA.
Funeral Services will be held at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hertzog-Rauch Cemetery in Alburtis.
