Vicki Lee Izzi (Hawes) of Baltimore, Maryland laughed her last infectious laugh on March 9, 2015, the 397th day of her battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. In the words of William Shakespeare, “though she be but little, she is fierce” – the exact description of her fight against her disease.
In her personal life, Vicki can be described as a compassionate, faithful, person of integrity who always displayed fairness and was often referred to as “Switzerland”. In her work life, she can be described as a role model, a “work mom”, a mentor and an idol. She was humble when it came to her job, never bragging about the numerous awards she received for a job well done.
She was born to Sandra Leah Hawes and the late Melvin Albert Hawes on November 26, 1963 and was greeted by big sisters Cynthia Harrison, Pamela Baird (Michael) and big brother Melvin Hawes (Dawn). Shortly after, she became a big sister to Kimberly Hawes. Vicki loved her family and was overjoyed when nieces Brittany, Emily, Kenna, Leah and Molly entered the world and she showered them with her love, time, laughter and affection. She is survived by her one true love, Marc Vincent Izzi, whom she married in 2004 and spent a wonderful 10 years of marriage with. She was welcomed in to the Izzi family by mother-in-law Angela, late fathers-in-law Melvin Grier and Robert Vincent Izzi, brothers Stephan (Debbie), Robert (Jeannie), Gregory (Cathy), Christian (Beverly), and nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Christopher (Denise), Vincent, Renee (Joey), Marc, Tony, Charles and Hannah.
As her favorite song sung by ‘The Carpenters’ goes “I’m on top of the world, looking down on creation,” Vicki is now in Heaven, on top of the world, looking down on creation and she will be forever missed.
Family will receive all those who loved Vicki at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home (16000 Annapolis Road; Bowie, Maryland 20715) on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm with a prayer service starting at 6:30 pm.
