Tyler Ray Hibbs, 27, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2017 losing his battle with addiction. He grew up in Odenton, Maryland and most recently resided in West Palm Beach, Florida. Tyler was born at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland on January 3, 1990 to Tina (Kolac) Hibbs and Tom Hibbs.
His brief life was truly remarkable. He was a strong willed and happy-go-lucky child from the start. He channeled that strong will into a successful baseball career, which very few had in the state of Maryland. At Arundel High School, as a ninth grader, he was the starting pitcher in the state championship game. In tenth grade, he led Arundel to the state championship, being named the Baltimore area “Player of the Year” and “Sophomore Sensation” who had a “Mound of Talent”, as described by the Baltimore Sun. He later went on to play with two national “Team USA” teams. He played for both the 16 & under and the 18 & under teams internationally.
Even more remarkable than his God given talent on the baseball field, was his humility. Despite the accolades thrown his way, he never talked about it much. He had a contagious smile, a knack for collecting and a mechanical mind. He gave his life to Christ as a child and he knew where his hope lied. He is now resting and at peace with Jesus. He will be greatly missed.
Tyler is survived by his parents, Tom and Tina Hibbs, his sisters Jessi Hibbs (with partner Dave Ziranski) and Shelby Hibbs, his brother Connor Hibbs and Connor’s fiancé Jessica Diaz. He is also survived by his precious niece Skylar Ziranski and grandmothers Lee Kolac and Shirley Hibbs. Also, surviving Tyler are many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as, many other countless loved ones and friends. He was predeceased by grandfathers Gerald Kolac and Raymond Hibbs.
A celebration of Tyler’s life will be held on May 21, 2017, at the Bay Area Community Church, 884 Chesterfield Road, Annapolis, Maryland. A time of Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration Service at 5:15 p.m.
