Miss you tons man! Hershey kiss throw ups, vienna finger rides, trips to asbury park (when it was actually a boardwalk..), bowling up in Lynchburg, watching you do the Marine Corps marathon, going to all the museums in DC, riding in the beat up jetta and accidentally dropping a penny right into the cig lighter and shorting out the whole radio, more recently lol, shooting each other up with nerf guns over christmas last year... I caused a ton of trouble when you watched me when I was kid for sure, but I won't ever forget it, I def appreciate the patience and insight you gave me through the years... love you and miss you.... Steve and I go back to 1997 when I joined the Annapolis HOG.  I knew Steve to be friendly and always ready to say "Hey" to everyone.  We just recently developed communication on FB after I moved down to Tenn.  I'm saddened by the loss of a friend and will always remember him.  His suffering is over, may God welcome him into his opem arms.

 I miss you very much. I turned to you for advice when I was unsure. You could always comfort my fears. I am thankful for the many good times we had together. You could always make me laugh and feal good. The values you showed me Faith in God and myself will always be with me. Love always your brother Richard

We are so sorry for your loss. Steve was a good neighbor and friend. He will always be in our thoughts and prayers. He made the best chocolate chip cookies and pound cake. The last batch was perfection!

We will always remember Steve’s funny side. Throughout his illness, he always managed to keep his good sense of humor. For example, last summer on our visit to the US, he gave Haddi a special gift “sock monkey”. This item has been in our bedroom window. Many tenants (both children and adults) in the apartment complex have taken notice of this special décor. This sock monkey  will always remind us of Steve’s humor. Steve will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Brenda and I were very sad to hear of Steve's passing.  We have very fond memories of Steve, on his Harley, as we cruised the roads of Maryland and Virginia.  Steve was a "giver", always there to provide the support necessary to ensure everyone was taken care of.  As a member of the Annapolis Harley Owners Group, he stepped up to hold officer positions and provide the leadership to the chapter membership.  I could always rely upon my fellow service member to honor the flag of our country and pay respect for those who had given their lives upholding the freedom and rights of all Americans.  He will be missed, but not forgotten.  Steve is someone who took on the challenges placed in front of him and made the best of them.  Even during his darkest hours, Steve always had a smile and something positive to say.  He will ride with us forever, as the 100 steel horses have led him to a better life with Jesus... Dear Vivian,

Gene and I were so saddened to hear that Steve lost the battle against leukemia.  Although words might not be able to soothe the pain, please know that Gene and I are praying for you, your family, and for Stephen.

You could not have met or known a person on the face of this planet that was like Steve. He was so much fun and always had nice things to say about everyone. Even during his treatments that put him through hell, he was always looking at the good side of things. I consider it an HONOR to be a friend of his.The world would be such a better place if more people were like Steve.You will be missed.

We were so blessed to have Steve as part of our family. Although we will miss him terribly, I cannot help but grin when I think of all of his practical jokes! He used to take our boys (his nephews) riding in the car. Every time he passed an elementary school, he would turn to one of them and call their name. When they would say "what?' he would say in his best "Sherlock Holmes"imitation  voice.. "Elementary". He would get them every time. We still do that to them and guess we will always and think of Steve. We will miss him, but we will never forget him.

Steve could always make me laugh and lighten my mood.  We carpooled for 2 or 3 years from Crofton to work at the US House of Representatives.  Just after the HOV lane opened on Hwy 50, Steve brought along his blow-up alien, and we put it in the back seat staring out at all the people stuck in backed up traffic.  What FUN!  We also stuck our hands out the sunroof and did the "Royal Wave" as we passed cars not in the HOV lane.  Steve's sense of humor was always a welcome start and finish to the work day.  On our drives to and from work he and I occasionally had a bit of "road rage".  One day Steve shows me this almost life-sized picture of my head on a popcicle stick.  I asked him what it was for.  He said so that when I gave a rude gesture to another motorist, he could hold it up in front of his face so that MY face was the last one they saw, not his!  We also drove through DC on the way to work one morning holding up a "Do you have any Grey Poupon?" sign!

The world was a richer and happier place with Steve in it.  He is missed!

"If I was having a rough day at work Steve would always have a way of inserting his positive humor and make me look at things in a positive light, and I know that most of the office can say the same. Even when my daughter would come into work with us the first person she wanted to visit was "Mr. Steve" and she wouldn't want to leave his desk when it was time to go. That says alot about a person right there. We had some great times at work and outside of work. I remember the NFPA training trip to AC with Steve, Gary , and myself in 2003, we had a great time. A couple years ago we shared Nationals tickets and enjoyed a couple Nats-Phillies games together. I'm glad I got to meet up with him and Terry Upshur for lunch  this past March. I will miss our weekly emails discussing politics, sports, and everything else. And I will leave by adding this; even when Steve was going through rough times he always stayed upbeat and positive. I am glad I had the honor to know him as a co-worker but more important, as a friend."  Stuart Josephs

I am so sorry for Steve's passing.  I so enjoyed our conversations and e-mails regarding politics and social issues.  I will miss him dearly.  Steve Lockhart.

Vivian, You are in my thoughts and prayers. May you be blessed with peace as you surround yourself with beautiful memories and rest in the comfort of the love you shared together.

In 2004, Steve and I took a ride to the Outer-banks (OBX) NC on our new Harley Road Kings.  We had a wonderful ride from Raleigh to Southern Shores and then out to the Bodi Island lighthouse.  You'll see a picture of Harley Davidson - Elizabeth City NC where we stopped and another of Steve standing next to his bike at the light house.  

Earlier this year, Steve sold his Road King and bought his trike.  He was so happy to be riding again after a year of illness and physical therapy.  

We were planning to repeat the ride to OBX this coming June with his new trike and my new Electra-Glide, but it wasn't to be. I looked in his log book and there are multiple entries where he was blocking off weekends for the ride.  He would send me frequent emails about our OBX plans, his new trike, his recent leukemia ride, etc.   

I will miss him, but we will ride together again someday...

We were so very sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
