Shirley Ruth (Bost) Stinnette was born in Riverdale, Maryland to Harry and Sarah (Barnard) Bost in 1942. A lifelong resident of Prince George's County, she started her education at Lanham Elementary School and graduated from Bladensburg High School with the class of 1960. As a young adult, Shirley loved playing softball with her neighborhood friends and going dancing. After school, her career started at Riggs Bank in Washington, D.C. where she discovered her love for the banking industry. She then moved on to Personal Thrift Savings & Loan, and ended her career at Safeway Credit Union where she retired after more than 40 years in the industry. Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Bob, in 1962 and the two welcomed their daughter, Patty, in 1963.
Shirley was an avid gardener, loved to travel, go camping, and listen to bluegrass and country music. She was the biggest supporter of her musician husband, who played in several bluegrass bands, and was always by his side cheering him on. Shirley had a side-business making beautiful framed jewelry Christmas tree pictures that now deck the halls of her family and friends. Her love of crafting is evident in her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest passion, though, was being with her family; nothing brought her more joy than to be with her loved ones.
Preceding her in death are her husband Robert Lee Stinnette, sister Carolyn (Gail) Bost Stanley, Brothers Richard (Dicky) Bost and Curtis Bost.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Patty Russell, her son-in-law Tony, grandchildren Stephanie (Jon) Hall, Robert (Haley) Russell, Victoria Russell and six great-grandchildren (Juliet, Ronan, Harlow, Emily, Forest and Luca), sisters-in-law Denise Bost and Joanne Bost and Dorothy Hurlburt.
