Robert "Bob" Burall, age 87, of New Carrollton, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 of natural causes. Bob was born October 21, 1935 in Mt. Savage, Maryland to George and Charlotte Burall. He grew up in Mt. Savage, MD and graduated from Mt. Savage High School in 1954. In 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Frances (née Carder) and they moved to Arlington, VA, eventually settling in New Carrollton, MD in 1960. He initially worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Entymology Division, then transferred to the National Security Council. He eventually settled into his long term career as a telecommunication manager with the U.S. Peace Corps, where he worked until his retirement until 1997.
His passions were hunting, fishing, and building houses with his friends Ray Beaver and R.L. Thompson at Lake Anna. He had a generous heart and would frequently open his home to those in need.
In his retirement he transformed his passion for helping his friends work on their houses to a job at Lowe's in New Carrollton, advising customers on their projects. When it came time to stop working, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When possible, he and Frances enjoyed traveling around the country.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Katherine Lashley, George Burall, and Gladys Crowe, and survived by his sister Gloria "May" Powers. He is also survived by his wife of over 66 years, his children, Denise Martin (Tony), Brian Burall, and Kyle Burall (Laurel); grandchildren Steven Philpott (Leslie), Ian Burall, and Layla Burall; and great-grandchildren Austin, Owen, Bonnie, and Logan Philpott. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
