Reginald Laurence Connally, Sr. (Reggie) was born to Bobbie Jean Dixon (née Connally) on October 20, 1967 in Newnan, Georgia and moved to Palmer Park, Maryland during his childhood. Reggie was educated in the Prince George’s County Public School System and graduated from Parkdale High School in Riverdale, Maryland. After graduation, Reggie entered the U.S. Army as a communications specialist. He was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany and Savannah, Georgia. He later served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Kuwait and Iraq. After leaving the Army, he returned home to Maryland and went to work at The Sports Authority in Greenbelt, Maryland where he met his wife, Christine. They went on to have four children: Reginald Jr (RJ), Christian, Olivia & Colin. After leaving The Sports Authority, he worked for F&M Distributors as a warehouse manager and Snyder’s of Hanover as a route sales representative. Later, he obtained his commercial driver’s license and began working for American Freightways (now FedEx Freight) where he worked for over 20 years. Along the way he was promoted to driver development instructor and trained many new drivers to obtain their commercial driver’s licenses.
Reggie loved music and had varied tastes ranging from heavy metal to smooth jazz. He was inspired by smooth jazz to take up the saxophone. He had a passion for motorcycles (especially Suzuki) and enjoyed riding with his good friend, Jody and brother, Michael. He was an avid motorsports fan and followed Formula One and motorcycle racing most of his life. Reggie was a lifelong football fan. His team for the first portion of his life was the N.Y. Giants and then when the Jacksonville Jaguars entered the league, he supported them the rest of his life.
