Peggy was a graduate of Greensburg High School and the University of West Virginia, from which she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of music degree in performance. In 2014, she graduated from St. John's College, Annapolis with a master of arts in liberal arts. She served thirty years in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Navy Band, Washington D.C., performing as principal flutist and concertmaster with the Concert Band, and retired in 2009 with the rank of master chief petty officer. In retirement, she performed with the Bellini Ensemble, the Virginia Grand Military Band and the United States Air Force Band in Washington.
She is survived by her husband, Aaron Porter, and by sisters Mary Kathleen Bair Peddigree (Ken) and Patricia Bair Meszaros (Joe) and AFS exchange student sister Kannikar Yantabutr of Bangkok. Also survived by five nephews.
Her life will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 30 at Robert E.
