My condolences and prayers go to you and your family in the passing of your mother. I am so sorry. MSL was my mine and my wife’s friend. We had plenty of laughs every time we were together. The nights she would work with me at Roy Rogers and Popeyes I’ll never forget. She kept it moving. Plus she was always wearing her mother/ teacher/wise counsel hat(s). She loved the children. But she loved her Kenny, Stephanie and family  more than life itself. Nita, Mercedes and I have you and the family lifted up in our prayers. Earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal.

Monica Scott Lewis was my colleague, friend, and Big Sis. I admired her passion and love for her family and profession. She had a tough love approach when doing her job but every child knew she loved them and wanted the best for them.  Big Sis always spoke highly of her family, and  talked often about their accomplishments, she was courageous, compassionate, and had a great sense of humor. Her daily fruitful thoughts emails helped carry me through some difficult days and encouraged me to stay focused on the main thing.  I am going to miss her but she will forever live in my heart.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Momma Lou. She was a beautiful soul who touched so many lives, including mine. My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time.

Momma Lou was like a mother to me, and I will always cherish the memories we shared. From our Sunday morning brunches to our walks in the park, she brought so much joy and warmth into my life.

Since the inception of Central Avenue Day, I do not think Monica missed many (if any) of the annual gatherings of our friends and neighbors from Central Avenue S.E.,  Washington, DC. She was an integral part of all of the annual celebrations that we had.  In this image, Monica is front and center.  She will be missed and I can hear her voice in my mind as I write this short message.  Her standard greeting to me was: "Doctor Bugggggggggggggg!"
  When we were teens, Monica and I raced down the steps of the Washington Monument.  I cannot remember who won the race but it is a memory burned in my mind.  I will miss my life-long friend and  will always cherish her memory and forever remember my good friend since childhood.

Mrs. Monica Scott Lewis was a second mom to me and so many people who knew her. She was a true educator and care giver at heart.  I will forever remember her humor, caring heart and strong will to take care of matters whether big or small. Mrs. Scott Lewis was loved by many especially at Bowie High School. I will always cherish my memories, talks and teachable moments. I will truly miss my second mom. Love always and forever.
