

Mildred Alleen Jacobs, 86, a resident of Bowie since 1962, died October 2, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was affectionately known by her siblings as "Mony" and by her grandchildren as "Nannie." Mildred was born December 1, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana to her late parents, Charles W. Peters and Ruth Marie Davis Peters. She was a homemaker, and as a military wife she also participated in the Officers' Wives Club in Germany and Iran, as well as transforming 12 houses around the world into homes for her family. In addition, she was the proprietess of an antique business that spanned the United States and England. Her children were the loves of her life, and she also enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, and was an avid reader and antique dealer. Married for 63 years, she is survived by her husband, Col. Alvin S. Jacobs of Bowie; her sons, Fred Jacobs (Sue) and John Jacobs (Colleen); daughters, Jan Carr (Art), Jeanne Corso (Ron), Ruth, and Cindy Hudnall (John); sister, Eula Yohler; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be Monday October 13th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm with a sharing of memories at 7 pm at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie. Inurnment will be Tuesday October 14th, 10 am at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. Reception to follow at Belair Mansion, 12207 Tulip Grove Drive, Bowie, MD 20715 from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
