JAMI MARIE BENNETT, was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Lorinda “Lori” (Schmidt) Bennett and Ronald “Ron” Bennett on February 16, 2001. The family moved to Bowie, Maryland in 2002 and lived next door to Oma and Opa Schmidt. Jami was an energetic child with a competitive spirit, and enjoyed swimming for the BBT Swim Team, playing sports for the Bowie Boys and Girls Club, and went on to play High School Lacrosse. She excelled at school and graduated from Bowie High School in 2019 as a Summit Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. She completed 2.5 years of higher education at Towson University studying Business and working as a Community Center Assistant. She rose to manager at Tropical Smoothie, where she was a dedicated employee and was adored by her coworkers and customers.
Jami loved being with family and friends. Her sense of humor was second to none, and she was as compassionate as she was funny. She was especially close with her older sister, Kami, and was always there to support her endeavors and celebrate her achievements. Jami was lively, bold, and full of spirit. She was kind and loving, always there to lift you up and make you laugh. She had a big heart for all of God’s animals. Jami loved the outdoors. A true Marylander, she loved fishing, crabbing, kayaking, long days at the beach, digging in the sand, and chasing birds. She loved playing with children and created many loving bonds. She enjoyed art, painting, baking, and playing games. Jami had a playful spirit and was always dancing. Jami was more beautiful than the prettiest sunset and her eyes were as blue as the sky. She was full of spunk and sparkle, which was immediately evident through her style: think bright colored crocs, sweatpants, crazy nails, the biggest hair bun, and long eye lashes. Time with Jami was full of laughter, and ludicrous, honest conversation.
Jami found her peace on May 31, 2022. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lyle and Glenna Schmidt, and her paternal grandparents, Clare and Elenore Bennett. She leaves behind her beautiful, loving spirit and her family and friends will treasure their memories of her. Jami was a bright star that added a sparkle like no other to this world. We are proud to have been able to call Jami our daughter, our sister, and our friend.
