Herman Victor Triplett, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Herman was born to the late Mary Louise and the late Virgil Victor Triplett on August 6, 1939 in Carthage, Missouri. Herman was the older of two children and was predeceased by his younger brother Alfred. Herman graduated from Carthage High School in 1957. Herman was known for being quite the athlete, playing high school football, boxing, even winning a featherweight title trophy, and being an avid bowler, winning numerous bowling trophies and continuing to bowl right up until his passing. Herman was a master at card games, especially Spades. When you played with him, you were beaten by the very best! He also loved singing and never missed a chance to perform Karaoke with his special friends.
Herman entered the Air force on December 7, 1961 and retired on June 30, 1986 after serving 24½ years of Active Duty Military Service. During his time in the Air Force, Herman served in Vietnam, had multiple tours overseas and received numerous medals and commendations. In the fall of 1986, Herman began working for the Defense Intelligence Agency and retired in 2009 after providing the federal government with an additional 23 years of service. Herman loved his country and gave over 47 years of his life serving the United States of America.
Herman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Josephine L. Triplett and by his three children (and spouses): Tamara Strickland, Monica Cain (Jarvis), Herman Triplett, Jr. (Tanisha); eight grandchildren: Derek, Kesharra, Tristan, Tierra, Jarvis Jr., Darrian, Brianna, and Madison; and eight great grandchildren: Jadayn, Issac, Andreya, Haven, Deakin, Avah, Amaya and Nova. Numerous nieces and nephews, including his special nephew Juan, only son of his only brother Alfred, and many family and friends also survive him.
