Gloria was formerly married to the late James Hardy and out of that union three daughters were born. She was a loving and devoted mother to Wanda Garnett, Denise Tabbs and the late Darlene Frye. Her strong belief in God, prayer and devotion to the family helped her overcome many of life’s obstacles.
She was an avid Washington Sports fan and never missed a Redskins game. She enjoyed family gatherings that were rich with food, joy and laughter. She loved to prepare the meals for her favorite holidays Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. When she could no longer prepare them, she enjoyed having her family cook for her.
Gloria was a devoted Civil Servant for the DC Public School System for 26 years. She retired in October of 1994. Gloria’s dedication to her job did not go unnoticed by many of the people she helped. Throughout her career, she received many accolades for her tireless efforts.
She was the loving grandmother of four grandchildren, Monique, Tomeka, Michelle and Jamal. She also adored her four great-grandchildren, Jalyn, Carlos Jr., Makhi and Caron.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memories: three son-in-laws Warren Frye, Darrell Garnett and Jonathan Tabbs; a god daughter Phyllistine; nieces; devoted caregivers Jacqueline, Paula, Tanya and Gloria; and a whole host of loving other relatives and friends.
