Mr. Gary Robert Grisdale, 60, of Bowie, MD, passed away at 2:06 a.m. April 03, 2022, at home in Bowie, MD.
Gary was born March 5, 1962 in Euclid, Ohio to the late George and Jean (Hull) Grisdale. Gary attended Riverside High School in Painesville, Ohio and University of Texas at Austin.
Gary’s 20-year career in military intelligence in the United States Air Force and the United States Army placed him at numerous worldwide assignments including Bergstrom Air Force Base, Aviano (Italy), Defense Language Institute, Camp Humphreys and Camp Essayons (S. Korea), Schofield Barracks (Hawaii), Fort Myer, and the Pentagon. Gary remained active in military affairs after retirement working as a private contractor for numerous firms such as Radiance Technologies, Northrop Grumman, and CACI International.
His many interests included helping people in need, reading, traveling, studying the Bible, and studying foreign languages. He was fluent in several languages including Korean and Hebrew.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kyung Jin Grisdale; sons, George W. Grisdale, IV and Gary Grisdale Jr.; stepmother Patricia Grisdale; father-in law Chang Mu (Jeong Sun) Kim; sister Gayle (Thomas) Zarack; brothers, Guy (Debbie) Grisdale and Glenn Grisdale; stepsister Elizabeth Lyden; and sisters-in-law, Soo Jin Kim (Yeon Young Lee) and Teresa Lyden. He also had many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George William Grisdale III; mother Jean Louise (Hull) Grisdale; grandfathers, George William Grisdale II and Albert Hull; grandmothers, Lucile Grisdale and Lila Hull; and, step-brother Jeffrey Lyden.
His family will receive friends for a memorial service beginning at 10am on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Abundant Life Korean Baptist Church, followed by a military honors ceremony beginning at 11:30am at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD.
