Ronald (Dean) Bateson was born on November 3, 1957, in Stillwater, OK, and passed away peacefully at home in Gambrills, MD, on April 6, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn (Amanda) Bateson; his father, John Henry Bateson; and was the cherished son of the late Imogene Ellen Bateson.
Dean was the devoted father of Chris Bateson and his wife, Liz Bateson; Amanda Butler and her husband, Larry Butler; and Kevin Bateson and his wife, Diane Bateson. He was also a loving stepfather to Travis Hopkins. His memory will be treasured by his grandchildren: Charlize Johnson, Kyla Butler, and Alexander Bateson, with anticipation for one more grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Dale Bateson, and his wife, Patsy Bateson; his brother, David Bateson, and his wife, Diana Bateson; and his aunt and uncle, Janell and Bob Punches.
Dean was a dedicated entrepreneur, having owned Bateson Construction until 2005. He later retired as a respected Senior Superintendent with Wood Partners in 2023. His passions were diverse and vibrant, including traveling, scuba diving, fishing adventures in Alaska, the satisfaction of building, the thrill of auctions, the care of his poultry, and simply being outdoors. Above all, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.

A visitation for Dean will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.
His funeral service will occur Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.
A graveside service for Dean, will follow the service on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
