David Kenneth Booth, Sr., 82 of Bowie, MD passed away on April 21, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 11, 1939 in Harrisburg, PA, to Merrill and Viola Booth. It was there that he met and married his beloved wife Barbara. He was a loving and devoted father to Diane Ricketts (Paul), David Booth, Jr., (Lisa), Susan Pfister and Debbie Francis (Paul), and grandfather (Gege) to Lindsey and Laura Ricketts. He was also affectionately called “Gege” by many others.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1967. He spent countless hours sharing the Kingdom hope with others right until the end of his life. He worked with the local Regional Building Committee helping to build Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls all over the DC metro area. He did this for many years and it brought him satisfaction and joy working alongside family and friends. He also participated in the ministry in seldom-reached areas in PA.
He worked as a steamfitter with local 602 in Washington, D.C. from 1961-1973. He completed a 5-year apprenticeship. As a steamfitter, he worked on many different buildings in Washington D.C. such as The Department of Labor, State Department, Gallery of Art, The Pentagon, and Metro.
In 1974, he started Booth Construction, Inc., a successful home improvement business. He was a skilled builder, designer and a master carpenter. He taught his son David Jr. the trade, and they have worked together side by side. David Jr. and family will continue the family business into the future.
He was a skilled woodworker and made many beautiful bowls and pens and enjoyed giving them as gifts. He also enjoyed being outdoors, swimming and family vacations. He loved spending time with his wife and family. He enjoyed a very close-knit family life.
He will be dearly missed and we all look forward to welcoming him back to life in the resurrection promised at Revelation 21:4. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry no pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” David had complete faith in this promise and looked forward to seeing its fulfillment. We look forward to that time with eyes of faith.
