William "Bill" H. Clark

He was born on August 18, 1934 in Brockton, MA. He was the son of the late William H.L. and Alice (Linehan) Clark, brother to the late Kathryn “Kappy” Clark Hanson, and brother to Charles B. Clark of Brockton.

Bill grew up in Brockton working on his family’s chicken farm which supplied hundreds of chickens to the Faneuil Hall Market in Boston every week. This is undoubtedly where he developed his strong work ethic, which he carried throughout his life. Growing up, family friend Daniel W. Field and his wife Rosa often took Bill and his sister for drives through D.W. Field Park, which Bill’s grandfather had helped build. He loved playing pick-up games of baseball and football with his neighborhood friends at Walker Playground. He graduated from Brockton High School class of 1952. He attended Norwich University, University of Miami and Wentworth Institute of Technology where he studied Engineering. He was a proud member of the Electricians IBEW Local 223 for 60 years, working on numerous projects in Brockton, Boston and many surrounding communities. He served honorably in the Army for two years during the Korean War, stationed in Hawaii from 1954-1956 working in the Mechanic Pool fixing all types of vehicles.

Bill summered in and retired to Cape Cod where he and Kay turned a family cottage into a year-round house, doing many DIY projects along the way, including digging out the cellar by hand to make a full basement. He never missed an opportunity to turn a project into a “teaching moment” for his kids and grandkids. He loved to garden and putter in his workshop, making all kinds of family floats and costumes for the Pocasset Heights Fourth of July Parade. He eventually turned half of the basement into “Bill’s Museum” where he displays many family photos and keeps track of their achievements. He loved helping his daughter’s and son’s families with their home improvement projects, often helping to plan them and making sure they had all the right tools to get the work done.

Bill and his loving wife Kay wintered along the west coast of Florida in Treasure Island for 30 years making many long-lasting friendships, enjoying many family vacations, and spending many afternoons at the Tampa Bay Rays practice fields during spring training.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kirsten “Cricket” Murphy and husband Paul of Bridgewater, son Jeffrey Clark and his wife Melanie of Virginia, grandchildren Shannon and Colin Murphy of Bridgewater, Ashley and Jefferson “JP” Clark of Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. He will be honored, loved, and missed by his family and friends.

Family & Friends are invited to the North Falmouth Congregational Church for a service at 11am Friday January 20, 2023, 155 Old Main Rd. Falmouth, MA. Burial is private.
