Thomas Dean Burgess

Thomas Dean Burgess, a lifelong resident of Bourne, passed away on May 10 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 31, 1961 and was 61 years old. He was the son of Leonard L. and Elaine R. (Mitchell) Burgess.

Tommy was a loving, loyal and proud Son, Brother, Father, Godfather, Uncle and Friend. All who were blessed to have known Tommy loved him for his kind heart and his love for life. Tommy was an avid Boston Sports fan and enjoyed watching the games with family and friends. Tommy loved to play horseshoes, go skiing, camping, canoeing the Saco River, bridge jumping and seafood, but most of all, Tommy loved to lend his heart and his hands to whoever needed them.

Tommy was a hardworking and skilled carpenter who could build a home from the ground up and was well known for his specialty of decorative sidewalling with a record never to be outdone.

Tommy is survived by his daughters, Fallon and Samantha, his step-daughter, Jess, and five beautiful grandchildren, Ayla, Luna, Logan, Morgan and Jack.

Tommy leaves his two beloved siblings, Kathleen A. Burgess and Jeffrey S. Burgess of Buzzards Bay; his niece and nephews, Scott, Jenna, Jesse, Dwight and Kurran.

Tommy was predeceased by his parents; and also his siblings, James E. Burgess and Mary Ellen Burgess.

A visitation will be held at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, located at 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA, on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 4-7 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, located at 141 Main Street, Buzzards Bay on Saturday, May 20, at 10am followed by burial at Sagamore Cemetery.
