Shirley Keith (Streaman) Baker, of Bourne, left this world on January 26, 2022. Born to Charles Streaman and Laura Sumner on September 7, 1929 in Waterbury, CT, she was the eldest of three children. She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy (Streaman) Haverly and Carol Streaman, as well as her beloved husband Edward (Ned) Baker, son Thomas Baker, daughter Nancy (Baker) Murray and grandson Christopher Baker.
Shirley and Ned moved from Woodbury, CT to their summer cottage along the Cape Cod Canal permanently in the 1970’s. Shirley worked in the cafeteria at both the Peebles School and Bourne High.
Shirley’s smile lit up the room and her laughter was infectious. Her eyes were the bluest that could be and almost always twinkled.
Shirley had a heart filled with love for her family and friends who became family. There was always laughter coming from their house and all were welcome for coffee or an evening cocktail. There are still stories about their Tall Ship Party being told.
On Cape Cod, Shirley loved spending time with her family. Shirley was the the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could ask for. She listened, laughed and gave great advice.
Shirley is survived by son David Baker and his wife Linda, of Stella, NC; Son in Law Richard Murray of Falmouth, grandchildren Leslie (Baker) Jennings, Michael Baker, Dan Baker and David E. Baker, great-grandchildren Claire Jennings, Cara Lynne Baker, Hayden Baker, Joey Murphy and Sophia Read.
