Vickery, Sandra Ann Neil, 75 of Bourne MA passed away on Saturday August 21, 2021, at Bridges of Epoch in Mashpee, MA. She was born to the late James and Mary (Neil) Strachen in Pawtucket, RI on August 4, 1946.
She is preceded in passing by her beloved husband Ronald (Ronnie) C. Vickery of 40 years. Also survived by her caring sister Melody Neil (Moschella) of Bear, DE. She is also survived by her sons; Jonathan B. Vickery and his 4 children; Emma A. Vickery and Tyler D. Vickery of Onset, MA, Elliot P. Vickery and Caleb T. Vickery of Bourne, MA. Her son; Thomas J Vickery and longtime fiancé Wendy A. Vickery of Wareham, MA.
Sandy grew up in South Attleboro, MA and attended Northeastern University where she received her Master's degree in Sociology. Sandy was co-owner of Clipper Ship Properties in Buzzards Bay with a longtime friend for 9 years. Sandy also worked as Director of the Council on Aging in Bourne for 30 years. Where she helped many seniors and promoted the town’s welfare for many years to come. Sandy was a huge proponent in construction of the "new" Community Building in Bourne in the early 2000's. Sandy also instituted the very popular Day Program. She also co-founded the Bourne Food Pantry, in the 90's. She won an award for all her efforts in 2002 coming home with Director of the year.
In the early 1980's Sandy co-founded the Junior Women's Club in Bourne. Sandra enjoyed many of the Cape's perks, by visiting the beach often, and many boating adventures, with her family on board. As an avid reader, she was a founding member of a book club comprised of her close friends. In her later years due to her love of coffee and love of friends she would be a member of a "coffee club".
A burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please donate in Sandra's name to; Bourne Council on Aging.
