Ron was born to the late Carl and Ruby (Holmgren) Forsberg on October 5, 1932 in Brockton, MA. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and Boston University. Ron served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return to Brockton, he helped run the family business, Forsberg Electric Company. As a Free Mason of the Paul Revere Masonic Lodge, he followed in his father’s footsteps and earned the position of Monarch, the first father and son to hold that position in Brockton. In 1968, he washed ashore on Cape Cod and settled in Pocasset where he raised his family.
For 29 years, Ron proudly served the Bourne citizens as a member of the Bourne Fire Department retiring in 1997 as Deputy Chief. During his retirement, Ron enjoyed volunteering at the Bourne Food Pantry and spending time with family.
Hard work and dedication to family were always priorities to Ron. He is not only well-known for his work ethic whether it was with his firefighting duties, carpentry, or painting, but also his ability to entertain whether it was through his jokes or Swedish ramblings. Ron never complained through his recent health struggles. He will be remembered for his strength, love, and humor.
Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine (King) Forsberg and their children Jean (husband Sprague) Taveau of Killeen, TX and son Paul (wife Carolyn) Forsberg of Pocasset, six grandchildren Jeanelle (husband Curtis) Wadkins, Catie (husband Tyler) Havins, Jim (wife Erica) Decatur, Carrie Forsberg, Brenna Forsberg, and Andrew Forsberg as well as two great-grandchildren, Emily and Natalie Taveau. He is also survived by his brother Bradford Forsberg (wife Joan) of Sarasota, FL.
Ron’s family extends their thanks to his very special family of staff members at Royal Nursing Home for the love and support they gave him during his stay.
Visiting hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, and a memorial service will be offered at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9 at the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA.
