Ronald W. "Rocky" Anderson, 92, of Bournedale, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Born on September 9, 1932, in Bourne, MA, he was the son of Onnie William Anderson and Gertrude Haskell.
A lifelong resident of Bourne, Rocky graduated from Bourne High School and went on to earn a degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He served as an X-ray Technician for the US Army before embarking on a distinguished career with IBM, covering Cape Cod and the Islands. Ronald's work ethic was unmatched, retiring without missing a single day.
Ronald was a master craftsman, skilled in finish carpentry. His craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished his time fishing on his boat, exploring the waters he loved so deeply.
A devoted genealogist, Ronald dedicated much of his life to tracing his family roots, proudly connecting his lineage to two passengers on the Mayflower. This discovery was among his proudest accomplishments, reflecting his deep passion for family history.
Active in his community, Ronald served as president of the Bournedale Civic Association and was a member of the Bourne Historical Society, Bourne Society for Historic Preservation, Bourne Capital Outlay Committee, Bourne Finance Committee, Sagamore Cemetery Association, and the Finnish American Society of Cape Cod.
As a committed member of the Masonic community and a proud Shriner, Ronald was affiliated with the DeWitt Clinton Lodge in Sandwich and its affiliate, the Cawnacome Sunshine Lodge in Bourne. His involvement with these organizations showcased his dedication to their values and missions.
Ronald was one of nine children raised in Bournedale. He is survived by his loving children: Erick Anderson, Kathryn Cahoon (Jeffrey), and Heidi Anderson, all of Bournedale. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Amber Lopez (Patrick), Jonathan Leger (Shauna), Kalyn Rishe Anderson (Grant Brittain), James Cahoon, and Kyra Piper Anderson; and his seven great-grandchildren: Savannah, Logan, Brooklyn Leger, Jade, Anthony, Audriana, and Mariya Lopez.
He leaves behind his siblings Carolyn Kierstead, David Anderson (Pam), Richard Anderson, and Helen Dirsa (Norman Dirsa late husband also predeceased).
Ronald was predeceased by; Rishe Levine Anderson, his first wife; Carolyn Forbes Anderson, his second wife; Brothers, Robert Anderson (survived by spouse, Mary Anderson), and Lester Anderson along with his late wife Virginia Anderson; Sisters, Eleanor Perry (survived by spouse, Lewis Perry), and Betty Duarte who was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Lewis, and her second husband, Louis Duarte.
Ronald will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and the history that shaped them. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor Ronald’s remarkable life at a Memorial Visitation that will take place at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, located at 40 Macarthur Blvd, Bourne, MA 02532, on March 12th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A graveside service and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
