Bob was born in Wareham, Massachusetts on July 21, 1947, the eldest child of the late Harold and Doris (Nickerson) Parady. Bob lived his entire life in Bourne and attended public schools there. Bob graduated from Bourne High School in 1965 where he was a member of the first BHS hockey team. Bob graduated from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst in 1970 with a B.A. in Political Science. It was at UMass that Bob met Martha (Allen) Parady, the love of his life and wife for over 50 years, who passed away in 2017. Bob also graduated from Suffolk University Law School and practiced real estate/estate planning law for 50 years following his admission to the Massachusetts Bar in 1974.
Bob devoted his entire life to his hometown. His first job was as a lifeguard as a teenager, eventually working his way up to Beach Supervisor. His lifetime love of politics resulted in his first elected position to the town’s Planning Board. In 1977, Bob was elected as Selectman-Assessor – at the time, Bourne was one of just ten communities in New England that had a full-time board of selectmen. He served six terms as Selectman-Assessor until 1995 when he resumed his full-time law practice. Bob also served on the Cape Cod Joint Transportation Committee and the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority Advisory Board. He concluded his political career by serving as the elected Town Moderator for 18 years.
Bob had a passion for music, particularly his personal guitar collection and the Rolling Stones. He enjoyed spending time with his extended family, the beach, golfing and caring for his lawn/vehicles. He loved to reminisce and was a great storyteller about his days growing up in Monument Beach and talking politics with his friends.
Bob leaves his two children, Attorney Christopher Parady and his wife, Marianne, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Dr. Rachel Keyser, DVM, of Moultonborough, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his stepmother, Peggy Parady, and sister, Vicki Sostarich, both of Illinois. He is survived by four grandchildren: William and Katherine Parady, both of Boston, Massachusetts, and Grace and Hope Keyser, both of Moultonborough, New Hampshire. Bob was predeceased by his two younger brothers, Alan and James Parady.
