Robert L. Oliver

Robert Louis Oliver of Buzzards Bay died Sunday, March 3, 2013 from cancer at the age of 77. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Grady) Oliver. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late James and Vera Oliver. He was raised in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School.

After graduation, he joined the Air National Guard where he served for 43 years and was a member of the 102nd fighter wing at Otis Air National Guard Base. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, the New England Patriots and especially spending time with his family and friends.

Robert is survived by his children: Kathleen Burgess of Buzzards Bay, Robert J. Oliver of Sagamore Beach, Janice Watterson of Monument Beach, Thomas Oliver of Falmouth and Sharon Brito of Sagamore Beach; his brother, James Oliver of Winthrop; twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, March 10, 2013 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, March 11, 2013 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 141 Main Street in Buzzards Bay. Burial follows in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
