Retired Lieutenant Colonel Robert L. “Bob” Faux, more affectionately know as “The Fox”, passed away on 14 September 2022, surrounded by family. Fox was born on the 26th of December, 1936 to Helen Giovanoni (Faux) and Robert Faux and grew up in Abington, MA.
In 1957 ,at the age of 20, he enlisted in the MA Air National Guard out of Logan Airport and shortly thereafter was selected to attend Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT); a life changing event that would lead to many more iterations of military aviation training and a fruitful career. He soon realized the three “F’s”, family, friends and flying, would occupy his heart and soul until his last breath. With close to 35 years of flying, spanning five decades and over 5000 hours of stick time, he mastered a myriad of fighter aircraft, including the F-86 “Sabre” or “Sabrejet”, the F-84 “Thunderstreak”, the F-100 “Super Sabre”, the T-33 “Shooting Star” or “T-bird” and the F-106 “Delta Dart”. As a past president of the Otis Civilian Advisory Council and the longest standing board member of the Eagle’s Nest, he dedicated his retired life to enhancing the morale and well-being of veterans throughout the region.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joyce, his son and wife George “Gig” and Mamta Faux and their son Jared, his son and wife Christopher and Susan Faux and their children Meagan Harris and her daughters Remi and Rowan, son Patrick Cuthbert, his wife Kara and their children Shaun, Cora, Elizabeth and Isla and daughter Sarah Cuthbert and her wife Heather Kashman, and his daughter and husband Danielle “Dani” Faux and Nicholas Corwin. In addition, Bob leaves behind Joyce’s daughter Michelle and her husband Steven and their children Cullen, Rhyan Elizabeth, and Shea Ullo. Also Joyce’s son Jacob and his wife Doreen and their children Sheehan, Delilah, Jadon, Liam, Bryce, and Oliver Barton.
Services are currently scheduled for the 29th of September from 9:30am – 1:30 PM at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA, followed by interment at the MA National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.nickersonbourne.com
